A House Concert is an intimate gathering of music-lovers who prefer to listen to music in a quiet setting at a friend’s home, on a patio or deck. Often played acoustically, a House Concert provides an opportunity for the musicians to share their stories and for the audience to hear and appreciate the music without distractions.

The host or hostess provides the House Concert location and seating, and invites 20 or 30 people to attend. Guests are asked to make a donation to the band ($20 per person is customary) and to bring a dish to share.

Typically, the band plays for an hour, followed by a 30 to 45 minute break for guests to meander, eat and talk, then the music resumes for the final hour of the show.

House Concert Information and Etiquette:

  1. Host or hostess indicates bathroom locations (go before the show)
  2. No talking during the performance
  3. Well-mannered young people are welcome–we want the next generation to appreciate music!
  4. Host or hostess provides a separate room for baby/child sitting, or asks that no children be brought to the show.
  5. It is up to the host or hostess to decide if drinks are allowed during the show, but food should be limited to the break.
